Abstract:

During 12 months of sampling, from 17 stations, 327 specimens of Soboor fish Tenualosa ilisha, including 120 females, 113 males and 86 immature were caught. Total length (TL) of the fishes was 120-500mm. Maximum diameter of soboor ova 0.795mm and the ova with diameter more than 0.7 mm released at one spawning round. Temporal and spatial distribution of ova diameter corresponding to GSI changes showed that ova with diameters between 0.64 to 0.795 mm released spontaneously in many rounds along fish migration route during its spawning season. The results indicate that the spawning of soboor begins upon its entering to Bahmanshir and Arvand Rivers on April and continued up to Shushtar and Dezful cities on September where their migration route and season are ended.

Abstract:

Fecundity rate and spawning season for cuttlefish (Sepia pharaonis), a commercially important species in Busheher coastal waters were studied from December 2007 to May 2008. We collected 142 specimens and after their sexuality were 18 males, 3 immatures, 16 first stage pieces, 14 second stage pieces and 91 pieces in third and fourth stages. The assessed biological characteristics such as: Mantle length, weight of total body, Nidamental gland, weight of head, weight of ovary and fecundity rate. We recorded 201.8±6.8mm for mean, 280mm for maximum and 115mm for minimum mantle length. The mean body total weight was 895.8±143g, and the maximum was 2098g, while its minimum was 241.13g. The mean, maximum and minimum Nidamental gland weight was 41.1±18.6, 126.8, and 0.2g, respectively. For the relationship between mantle length (ML, mm) and fecundity we found the linear regression equation: Fecundity=-630.68+5.22ML. The mean, maximum and minimum fecundity rate was 494±131, 1246 and 178, respectively. The results of this study showed spawning season for Sepia pharaonis in the coastal waters of Busheher Province to be from the end of February to the end of June.

Abstract:

The current study carried out to determine some blood factor levels in Benni (Barbus sharpeyi) brood stocks to achieve information about physiological changes due to reproduction and effect of reproduction on the serum parameters. Overall 42 randomly selected fishes including 24 females and 18 males ware studied. Blood samples were obtained from fishes in Dashte Azadegan Fish Culture Farm in a short time before spawning, serum was collected from blood and samples were analyzed in lab. The results show that mean values of Cholesterol, Glucose, Cortisol, Sodium, Potassium, BUN, Ig M were equaled to 247.07, 17.8, 40.9, 5.07, 139.09, 2.57, 1.46, and 62.8 respectively. The relation between serum parameters value with Sex and biometric factors of fishes were also studied. The results showed a statistical difference in Ig M mean value between male and female fishes (P<0.05) but there was no statistical difference in other factors between males and females. There was also a statistical difference in fishes with different weight and length for Potassium, Total Protein and Ig M (p<0.05).

Abstract:

World population growth led to growing demand for various and different food source, including aquatics. Today’s aquatics supply protein, improve human nutrition and public health and economic development have an important role. In this research, we have study the effect of spawning season on fish fatty acid composition, and IA and IT indexes in Hendijan region. For this purpose, 45 Liza kluzingeri have been collected during three phases (before sexual maturity, peak of sexual maturity and after spawning maturity, peak of sexual maturity and after spawning) during the month of September, November, December and January 2012. With tow- boats Pursine of Hendijan. Using spss16 software and Duncan comparison test what meaning difference has determined in 95% level (P=0.05). It is shown that, the sum of saturated fatty acids a43.51, 43.07, 13.31, mono unsaturated fatty acids 28.78, 27.33, 17.58, the sum of polyunsaturated fatty acids 22.98, 22.48, 36.48, equsapentanoeic acid 10.61, 10.22, 12.23, dequsapentanoeic acid were 1.33, 0.61, 0.53 in phases before sexual maturity, peak of sexual maturity and after spawning maturity, respectively. IT measures was less than one in three phase, but only at a later stage of spawning IA index was less than one. Therefor it can be concluded that the nutritional value of muscle tissue Liza kluzingeri is higher at post-spawning.

Abstract:

Background: Mercury (Hg) is considered a global pollutant because Hg0 which is the predominant form of atmospheric Hg resides in the atmosphere for as long as 0.5 to 2 years. Mercury has many negative effects on the reproductive, respiratory, and immune systems. Methods: In this study, 24 Caspian lampreys (Caspiomyzon wagneri) were transported to the university laboratory and then stored in -20oCuntil they were dissected. The liver, muscle, skin, ovaries, and testes were all dissected out. All samples were freeze-dried and ground by a mortar and pestle into powder. The specimens were analyzed by a Leco AMA254 mercury analyzer. Results: The order of mercury concentration in the lamprey tissues was as follows: Muscle>ovaries>liver>skin>testes. The mean values of mercury in muscle and testes were 192.25 ± 7.10 and 21.42 ± 1.48 Hg ng/g dry weight, respectively. There were no significant differences (N=24) between the sexes in the Hg level of most tissues except for gonads.Discussion: A comparison with some ammocoetes of jawless fishes shows a 10 times less concentration than other records. This difference probably is due to non-parasitic behavior and use of various sources of nutrition in other species. Conclusion: In comparison of other kind of sea lamprey, due to detritivore habits of Caspian lamprey on a very specific part of food web (non-live food only in the sea floor), the supposed species can introduce as a special indicator of mercury and heavy metal levels in the aquatic ecosystem.

Abstract:

Schizothorax zarndnyi is one of the most economic and endemic species, which are found in rivers and triple lagoons of Hamoon. In this study, reproduction cycle, type, season and optimum temperature of spawning period was studied from July 1998 to June 1999. The maximum GSI was 7.9-9.6 in March and April with 14-18°C mean temperatures. The minimum GSI was 0.92 in May. Variation in GSI values shows that reproduction has annual cycle which begins in May and ends in April of the next year. From October significant increase of oocyte diameter and GSI were observed in 2 different groups, while oocyte distribution observed only in one group in May. The rate of HSI had flucatuation, during resting period of ovule (from May to September) and from October simultaneously with significant increase of GSI, the HSI increased and continued to January and decreased in March and April. The condition factor, was changed during reproduction cycle and it was minimum in March (0.92). Concerning these investigation, Sch. zarndnyi is a total spawner and showing a synchronous ovary.

Abstract:

In regarding to study the fecundity and spawning season of Nemipterus japonicus in Khuozestan coastal, 482 specimens of this species were collected monthly by trawl net from Jun 2005 to May 2006 in Khuozestan coastal. Biometric characteristic such as measurement of fork length, weight and body depth was done, in order to specify spawning time, determining the sex maturity stage, ova diameter and gonadosomatic index (GSI). Ovaries were preserved and transferred to the lab taking the available standard methods into account before estimating the fecundity. The maximum and minimum estimated fecundity were 131321 and 10321 in samples with fork length 219 and 178 mm respectively. Maximum relative fecundity was 713.54 and the minimum was 55.81 in fishes with 191 and 178 mm of fork length respectively. Considering the ova diameter in different stage maturity and variation of GSI in different months, indicates that Nemipterus japonicus starts spawning between middle and end of spring. Results indicated that absolute fecundity had the highest correlation related to gonad weight (r= 9.95) and relative fecundity had the highest correlation related to gonadosomatic index (r= 9.94).

Abstract:

This study is the first to characterize and provide a comparative physiological account of wild population female Sobaity sea bream in spawning season. Interestingly in Sparidentex hasta average of Na+, Cl-, Ca+2 and K+ were highest to lowest concentrations. Otherwise level was higher than globulin and albumin. K+ concentration correlated negatively with Na+/k+ (P<0.01) and Ca+2 correlated positively with Na+ K+ (P<0.01). We established serum parameters values for the S. hasta, which can be used as interpretative data obtained from this species in Persian Gulf. Therefore, values reported here will be useful for the early detection, identification and monitoring of diseases and sub lethal conditions in this species.
